I’m Everyone’s Type
Hi, I’m Lisa Marie Farver, a Chicago typewriter poet and performance artist and the founder of Everyone’s Type Poetry & Performance.
When I discovered typewriter poetry more than a decade ago, it was my dream to get behind a typewriter and change lives.
Before poetry became my life, I honed the art of improvisation, an essential for impromptu typewriting, at Second City’s Conservatory and Writing Programs.
But the poetry bug kept biting me.
I’d prompt my social media followers, “Give me a word and I’ll give you a poem.” People ate that up.I’d receive dozens of comments and respond to each one in real time digitally.
Then, it was time to go analog.
I wrote my first typewriter poem in 2019 and I’ve been connecting with seeming strangers this way for more than seven years now. I worked on a few collaborative endeavors and those experiences taught me what I want to change about typewriter poetry as it’s traditionally known.
Everyone’s Type Poetry & Performance sprang from my desire to bring a dynamic experience to the typewriter poetry world. Armed with a collection of more than 30 typewriters, vintage hats and dresses, I have since shared this transformative art to thousands of people at weddings, galas, brand activations, conventions, baby showers, fundraisers, festivals, and random street corners throughout Chicago.
